Just posted a few photos of the folding wing joint in my album. Haven't seen too many other close-ups on this site. Hope it helps.

that all looks really good. The parts all look very professional! Out of curiosity, did you fabricate (what looks like to me) that u-joint type connection near the rear spar? That would seem difficult to precisely fabricate.

Don't know if you know, but the U-joint tube slides in and out to accomodate closing the gap between outer and center wing before installing the pin at the rear spar. The tube is hollow, but I pressed a solid plug in one end to machine the slot. The other part of the U-joint is milled with a slot also. Not too difficult. The U-joint does need to allow enough freedom on the wing to line up holes for the pin. Until you get it all worked out it takes a lot of on and off cycles with the wing. Good to have a helper for that.

Les.

If you need more photos of the folding gizmo , I have several in my photo section to graze upon . Les is right, a helper (my wife) sure helps a lot to get the wing into the flight position . When I am ready to bring it home I can fold the wings myself while on the trailer and then head home . ;)
