Alas! My trusty Garmin 150 GPS has closed its eyes and gone to GPS heaven.

I need a replacement GPS that will drive my TruTrac auto-pilot and give me reasonable service. I prefer a panel mount because of ease of use in the air, however am open to suggestions.

What are some of the successful installations that you guys are using?

Bob,
I installed a Garmin GNC300XL last spring and am really happy with it, it's a GPS/Comm unit, the GPS part is the same as the GPS 155XL. Don't know how well it works with an autopilot as I don't have one. I found mine on Ebay. I believe that it takes the same space in the panel as what you currently have.

You are correct, it will fit the same cutout. I purchased a 300XL a couple years ago and really like it. It will drive a Trutrac AP as it updates fast enough for the Trutrac. The King GPS's will not drive a Trutracas it does ot update fast enough. I first installed a King KLX135 and it would wonder all over Florida looking for a straight line. Contacted King and was told there GPS's will not drive a Trutrac. Another concern it Garmin's decision to stop production of these units (250xl/300xl). They still support them but for how long.
