I just discovered my ELT (D&M) turns itself on if I remove my external cloth canopy (cotton table cloth) by sliding the cloth aft over the canopy down towards the tail in the hanger. WEIRD! I suspect since my ELT antenna is located on the shelf aft of the seats, a static charge is generated by sliding off the cloth activating the ELT. The ELT is mounted under this shelf. I heard the ELT signal in my shop radio and verified it by turn off the ELT. I did this process three times with the same results. I know it sounds strange but has anyone had a similar experience with EMI/EMC? NO, THERE WAS NO BEER EFFECT.

Try moving the cover foward vs. aft . ;) Then have another beer ! If all else fails try another T-18 cover from a buddy !

OK... guess I was blind. It's a D&M. I'm guessing that's Dorne & Margolin. Sorry for the stupid question.
