I ran across these Deutsch connectors and if you need a water proof, rugged connector, you may want to look into these. I am using them on the S-18 at the folding wing joint (due to anticipated moisture problems during trailering) and I also installed them in the wing tips for the Nav/Strobe lites and alieron trim.

The connectors are USA/German made [;)] and have rubber "boots" at each end to accept the wires...push the pin or socket thru the opening in the boot and it "seals around the wire. They have a positive locking action and an internal rubber seal. You can also get an attach bracket (which I did) to secure them to a bulkhead, rib, or ? Available in many configurations. Single wire up to 12+ wires. They even have a circular connector (similar to a "cannon plug", but the price goes way up ) Best deal is on E-Bay. NASCAR and other high octane groups use them.

Hey Rich, Not to get off topic but where did you get your wingtip lenses for your landing lights and nav lights, I had to form my own?

Well...the landing lite lens I made courtsey of Chuck Borden. Not difficult at all. The hard part was making the form block for the lens. The lens for the LED Nav/Strobes I got as a complete kit from Kuntzleman Electronic Inc. The LED "Combo Strobe System." The LED Landing/Recoginition lite also came from KE. www.KEstrobes.com They have an ad in the back of Sport Aviation. [8D]

With all the progess (size and output) now with LED lites, it may now be possible to install the lites "in" the Kebler (sp) wing tip, rather than on a pad on the exterior of the wing tip as I did. Oh well...maybe next year ?

I can vouch for the Deutsch connectors. Have been used on outboards for several years & work well even in saltwater. Most anytime I need a disconnect, I use them.
