For those of you planning to arrive Thursday night (I know there are few) I've set up a tour of the DRS Technologies C-130 overhaul facility on Friday morning. Nothing like seeing the mighty Herc in little pieces all over the hangar floor!

Just received the following e-mail from the innkeeper: ...Please let your group know that there is a wedding at the Inn the week-end they are all coming - from 11:00 to 2:00. I am assuming your group will be at the airport during that time frame but just so they all know, the first floor of the main house, the pool area and the Tavern Room will be in use for the wedding during that time frame. The pool and the Tavern Room will be available after 3:00 (we will need to clean up after the wedding). Since it is Saturday afternoon, I don't see any conflict but if for some reason you planned to swim that afternoon, I guess you'll just have to come to the airport instead. [:)]

Scott,

I am gonna try to make it sans airplane as it is not ready to be back in the air yet. I would like to see a few other T-18s and meet with the owners. I am coming from the Fayetteville, NC area so not a bad trip for me.

Tim A.

Tim,

I'm looking forward to meeting you. If you're looking for a place to stay, I suggest the Fairfield Inn (see my post above).

There are still rooms available at the discounted rate of $89 at the Fairfield Inn.

It looks like i won't be making the spring gathering after all.The cool part though is that i will be one of a convoy of trucks hauling the stage for U2 this summer.Loading in Houston in the morning, through the end of july. So if anybody is interested in my room at the Culpepper "green room" let me know.Though im not a u2 fan, steady income will be good

If memory serves, either U2 or Willy Nelson offers a groupies night for the truckers at least once per tour - have fun.

Joe, the idea was to get MORE people to come, not less...

Have fun with U2. Tell Bono I said hi.

Scott Hinton,

Can you tell us what rental car agencies serve Elizabeth City?

Bob,

There are two providers: Enterprise at (252)334-1601 and Klasic Cars. Enterprise will deliver to the airport and we rent the Klasic cars out of our terminal. For planning, I will have a couple of mini-vans to shuttle folks to/from the Culpepper Inn, so unless you want to drive around town, I don't think you'll need a car. Your call...

Latest update:

If you plan to attend please post a response so that I can get an accurate headcount. I'm planning meals and want to make sure no one goes hungry. Also, let me know if you plan on going on the tour friday am.

Schedule:

Friday morning: DRS Technologies will give a guided tour of their C-130 overhaul facility. I worked there for almost 5 years and still love walking through the hangar. I promise it will be well worth your time if you can come in early.

Friday night: dinner at the Cullpepper Inn poolside and bar-side. Elizabeth City Airport is picking up the tab for dinner.

Saturday morning: fly-out to First Flight Airport, Kitty Hawk. I'll have a photo plane (Mooney) with the Coast Guard base photographer on board to get monument fly-by photo's for everyone.

No-host late lunch back at the airport cafe.

Saturday night: Dinner again at the Culpepper. I'll have a price soon, but it won't break the bank.

Sunday: you all need to go home so I can get back to work and stop screwing around.

FLYING: ALL WEEKEND!

Bob and Susan Highley will be in on Thursday. We will want to tour the C-130 facility. Les and Margie Conwell are out of town. If you don't hear different from them, they will be coming Thursday as well. I'll defer to Bill and Debie for their reply.
