OK Folks - The Ouija board has proclaimed the "West of the dry line" Spring 2014 T-18 Summer Solstice Gathering on June 20th, 21, and 22nd at South Valley Regional Airport - U42.

The FBO on field is Leading Edge Aviation - (801) 858-0042. I will be working out some additional details with aircraft parking and with accommodations as well as the events in the days ahead. Stay tuned.

The misses and I will try hard to make it. The only thing that may interfere is work. I may be planted firmly in Dallas around that time.
I'll try to shrimp fork Spanky into it as well.

Looking at the sectional, 3 strikes, I'm out:

1) it's a 4000 mile round trip
2) I need an oxygen system for the altitudes you guys have to fly for an afternoon of punching holes. I'm used to 2/3000 ft MSL.
3) And there's a State Prison in Frases home town; now it all makes sense!

Enjoy, sounds like fun and looks beautiful.

We plan to come over, driving or flying, one way or the other. Now that I'm retired time is all we have so count us as 2 for the show at U42.

OK folks - I have tried to negotiate a "special" room rate for our group at the Hampton Inn. The online room rates are less than the guaranteed with late arrival room rates.
On line the rates are 87-89 per night. The special deal given me for "guaranteed special late arrival yadayada" is ....$99. I leave it up to you as to how you wish to reserve a room there. It is a nice hotel which is close to the airport.
Hampton Inn West Jordan
3923 Center Park Dr, West Jordan, UT 84084
(801) 280-7300

They currently have rooms available, but do not wait long to book. They are the only hotel in the city of West Jordan and can fill up quick. There is lots of various food places within easy walking distance even for you senior eaters out there.

Once again, the FBO that is hosting us is:
South Valley Regional Airport - U42
Leading Edge Aviation
7365 S 4450 W, West Jordan, UT 84084
(801) 858-0042

Leading edge also has rent cars available at a reasonable price should anyone want to stay awhile and go driveabout. I may actually rent one anyway and hornswaggle one of you to help shuttle people, but we'll see as we get closer.

Another Hotel option which is close to where Homey and I live is the:
Fairfield Inn
12117 Factory Outlet Dr, Draper, UT, 84020, US
Toll free: 866-460-7456
Their rates are similar to the Hampton

I suggest everyone do the Hampton near the airport, but plan B is the Fairfield and we can shuttle people easily.

Things are shaping up and plans are being made to make it a memorable fly-in. The airspace is easy in-easy out with a few subtle tricks, but I will brief the week before anyway.

Toodles for now...Homey and I are looking forward to seeing you all here.

Norm - glad you're coming - if you show up in a car, I may buy you some gas for shuttle duty...and you will definitely get some stick time with me or someone else here.

Booked my room at the Hampton Inn West . Good News for us active/retired military you can get the $84.15 rate , plus tax , plus shipping , plus smog check and Utah Women's Prison fee ! ??? Total $94.75/per nite . Same CNX time frame as the $99.00 rate . ;) You can CNX the day of arrival before 1800 local Hotel time . Booked online . ::) If we need a rental car/Van I'll chip in a few Baluts to make it happen ! Ummm Tasty !

Plan to arrive late morning on the 20th ? >:( WX permitting ! BOOM !
