Folks,
I am sniffing the web to see what interest there may be in having a Spring Fling out in sunny Las Vegas Nevada. I went to the county offices today to request "around 20 to 25 " parking spaces near the terminal. Not sure of fuel or parking fees yet. I have a contact number for a lady at Station Casinos for discount rooms. If you are interested, sing out "like you have a pair". Tell me when in March or April is good for you and how many will attend.

One - maybe two...one with a baritone pair, one with a soprano pair - weekends other than the 29th of March.

Hey Cubes and Spanky - am looking for a hard date - pick one with good WX, as that whole area has so much to offer as far as spectacular scenery around which to fly. If you haven't seen the Valley of Fire from the air, you haven't lived.

For anyone who is wondering, North Las Vegas Airport is easy to get into, free downtown shuttles to the roller coasters (pole dancing as well, for the San DIego crowd) - Set this baby in stone and let's get some commits. Some of you need to get out more often - suspect larger pairs given the holiday food - Dan Eggleston - tell your lovely wife there is a Chippendale's show at the Rio - I'm not in it this year, but I'll buy!!

Wow. People here sure are helpful. I'd be interested, as well, but would prefer an easy date.

Then there are those of use that just want a "cheap" date and some will take it any way they can get "it".

admin posted on behalf of Cubes ...

Well, we were looking to see if anyone had issue with a particular date. I guess since it is only going to be you and Danny, we can be pretty flexible.

Cubes - Set a date, bud - then people can check their calenders, lock in their hair appointments and commit or pass.
Richard....LOL - you're probably the one person I never would have asked for a hard date.

Got that date figgered yet? - She Hoo I Wership wants to bring Muffincakes and Jellowtarts down in the four wheeler and take in Phantom Of the O. Probably the same night Spanky's Pole Cat Hangar Review perform.

After much meshing of brains we've finally set the dates for the Vegas Fly-In.

Location: VGT
Dates: 23 to 25 Apr 2010

For accommodations, we've got a rate on hotel rooms at the Texas Station Hotel and Casino which is adjacent to the airport. Rooms are $45/night plus $4.99 hotel service fee. For reservations, call 800-654-8888. The group code is TCITHOR or THORP PARTY. The offer expires on 2 Apr. VGT has two on-site rental car agencies: Enterprise @ 702/395-2244 and Hertz @ 702/395-2207. Call and make reservations early. There's also an Enterscheiss down the road from the airport. Just as a skulls up; Cubes and I drive pickups so space is at a premium.

The agenda is still being worked out, but this is Vegas and there's lots to see and do that is aviation related. For those who arrive early enough, there will be a tour of the Nellis AFB Threat Museum with an actual former MiG pilot (me). I'm also trying to set up a static display of an F-15 Eagle, F-16 Viper and F-22 cRaptor. We're hoping to have one of the local BBQ joints (voted best in LV) serve up grub on Saturday. Another idea is a flying outing around Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire National Park. Cubes 'promises' to get a pole installed in the hangar as soon as the Lancair 320 moves out for a little entertainment on Saturday night. Yeah, right.

As we get closer, I'll post information on safely navigating the always-congested airspace around here so no one gets violated or run over by an F-16 doing Warp Factor 9.

Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can get an in-the-ballpark schnoz count. If for some reason we can't generate enough interest ...

If you have any questions or suggestions:

Cubes: 702-232-4261
Spanky: 702-271-2645

Sweet - I'm in - Wife and My2chicklets will attend partial celebrations. For those unfam with the area, VGT can get busy at times, but is not difficult - I have done in with ease.
The scenery on the proposed Saturday outing is some of the most spectacular this side of the Emm Eye Ess Ess Eye Ess Ess Eye Pee Pee Eye.
She Hoo I Wership and my2chicklets are gonna try to attend a showing of "Phantom of the Opera" while there - if any T-18 Queens are up 4that, sound off and I'll let her highness know and perhaps you can all kibbitzinate.
