Just a quick report on an event in Ontario that included 10% of the Canadian Thorp Fleet and 20% of the registed Thorp owners.

I was at the Gathering of the Classics in Edenvale, Ontario on Saturday, August 6. I was later than I planned to be, but made it just in time to catch Gary Johnston getting into his fairly new T18 to go back to Lindsay. He just painted his airplane... it's now a nice medium blue with yellow marks.

The other Thorp was Jamie Knight's airplane, sporting a very patriotic paint scheme. He is hoping to get his sign-off in a couple of weeks.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Dick Shaub who owns a T18 out of Welland, Ontario. He's only had it flying again for a few days after doing some major work on it, so he ended up driving to the Gathering.

This event is real grass roots. All static except for rides. This year there was a P-40 Warhawk from Gatineau, a B-25 Mitchell from Hamilton, several Harvards (T6) and even a Fleet Finch giving rides.

I'll post pictures tonight.

Jamie Knight's T18 - Fras, you'll have to check with Jamie, but I think the red stuff is moose blood.
