Post subject:  SOCAL Events
I am trying to put together a list of "fun" cheap events for us SOCAL knuckle heads to attend . "Fun" and "Cheap" are hard to find , but I have a list that I will post shortly . Right now I have 2 for this month that I plan to attend WX permitting . When I get a full list I will post them on the events page of the forum . I have tried to pick airports that are about 1-1.5 hours flying time from the Central Valley and from the San Diego area . A mid point for us .

Event #1

KMHV "Space Port" Plane Crazy . 3rd Saturday of the Month . 0900-1300 . 16th of November . I plan to arrive around 1000 hours. 100LL available . Check the web site .
Event #2

Auga Dulce (L70) Last Sunday of the Month . The 24th this month and I plan to attend WX permitting . $5.00 BBQ . Burger, potato salad , chili , drink . 24 November 2013 . 100LL available . Check the web site .

Here's a couple more for Rich's SoCal Fun-n-Cheap Get-Aways:

Event #3
1st Sunday every month is the Santa Paula's (KSZP) 1st Sunday Fly-In. Great open hangar day. Lots of good eats in town.

Event #4
Santa Barbara (KSBA). Park at Atlantic Aviation and take a short walk to the beach, park, pier and the most-excellent Beachside Café.

Event #5
Kern Valley Airport (L05). Park on ramp to hit the restaurant. Park down at the airplane camping ramp to walk down to the Kern River. Fish, take a cold dip or throw rocks. Rent the "courtesy car" or walk the 2-3 miles into town for the Kern River Brewery. It's awarding winning beer!! Then return to the campground for a fire and a million stars.

I'll add the last list of events to the event page . Cold dip in the Kern River ? ??? We are talking serious shrinkage ! :o Not Auga Calente ! :P

I was trying to put together a list of "Fun/Cheap Places" to fly in SOCAL when I ran across this web site . Not only does it cover SOCAL and all of California , but the entire US ! It has a wealth of info .
