I still have a air conditioned room with one bed available at the University dorms, three hundred for the week.

In looking at the picture that EAA posted about shifting the aerobatics box boundaries for the Thunderbirds during the last 3 days (Friday, Sat. & Sun.), it looks like it will impact about half of the area where the Thorps usually park. Is that correct? If so, those parked closer to the runway won't have access to their aircraft for most of the afternoon on those days, & those parked further from the flight line will then be in the "thick of it", with massive crowds around their aircraft during those times. I'm thinking of parking in the homebuilt camping area again.

I suggest we park in the usual place and then move Thursday AM to the rear area. I have the same concerns as you. Based on the Sun 'n Fun experience, EAA has made a HUGE mistake in hosting the 'birds.

Bill and I leave in the morning, 26 July. We plan on flying up from DuPage on Sunday, WX permitting. Anyone else stopping along the Way?

I arrived yesterday (Friday) because it seemed a better weather day than the next few for me. Haven't seen another Thorp yet... I am parked in the Homebuilt Camping area. The temperature has been pleasant, with overcast skies & a good breeze. The skies cleared late this afternoon, but there is talk of rain tonight continuing into tomorrow morning, & then getting drier again. I wish everyone blue skies & a good flight.

How about some reports from the front lines? Inquiring minds want to know.

It's been a great week weather wise. We've had some rain, but the temperatures have been very nice & cool. Warmer & sunny today. Not too many Thorps made it this year... I counted at least 8, but there may possibly be others hiding somewhere. Gary Green flew his recently completed Cub this year... it's a beauty. Lee's new airplane looks great, and he did a very good job as MC at the Thorp forum today! Sorry for the abreviated report... maybe one of the other guys can add some further details.

20 to 25 folks at Roxy's last night. People from Canada to the Mountain West, and the Midwest to Florida. Comments by eaters that know, "Best prime rib ever!" Great time had by all. Let's do it again next year!

Walton and N118LW made it back to Houston in just shy of 6 hours, 45 hours on the tach now and I have no complaints!

Oshkosh 2014 - A little rain, some sun, cool temps and always some thing to do! As always a great week!

51 more weeks till 2015!

Arrived back at LAL after a 6.5 hour flight from Oshkosh with a fuel stop at Warren Cty, TN. A great time was had by all Thorpers. Ate too much and drank too much. Lee tried hearding all the cats for the T18 functions and manage a great job. The people line worked this year, when the standard show line was in effect we parked away from the front line line and when the Thunderbird line went in effect we moved our planes back out to the original show line . No people.

You made good time, Bill and Lee. I arrived home in Denver Sunday, with a fuel stop in Wayne, Nebraska - 100 LL $5.00/gal. About a couple hundred miles less than you guys, & 5.5 hrs. Light headwinds & lots of clouds. I left OSH around noon, after the memorial service.
