I am thinking about flying in for Sun N Fun this year. I have never been to Sun N Fun before. Anyone have any tips for hotels (am I too late now to get a hotel), camping, flying into the event, what area should I park in to be with other Thorps, etc...

Hi Ryan,

Sun N Fun is a bunch of both. To start- Hotels usually book a year in advance unless you want to go off airport quite a ways. And that involves a rental car, which are also scarce these days( and pricy).
For the last many years, I've been camping. David Read normally arrives early and sets a spot. Also, This year Les and Linda Krumel are volunteering at the event. Word could be put out to save some spots. Last year, Bob Yeager was camping as well.
For flying in - download and read the Notam. then read it again and make the appropriate signage to get to Experimental Parking.
Once on the ground, the crew does a decent job of directing similar type aircraft to the same parking line. Last year there were 4 Thorps- more actually, but some rotated in and out. 4 was the most I saw in a day over the week I was there. Additionally, Bob Highley is our Ace at Sun n Fun. He'll make sure the airplanes are parked in a line.
Hope to see you there.
