Has anyone come up with a method to install a "lock" on the ACS (ACS Products), non-vented fuel cap? [;)]

A nice place to be from...the Motor City ! [:p] Just trying to plan ahead. Out here in SOCAL we have to pay for our fuel. Those in FL can just go to the beach and scoop the crude and with a little Scottish Magic they can make their own MoJoGoJo ! [:o)]

Mine doesn't have an exposed outside latch. It operates with a push/pull cable in front of the instrument panel.

I've seen one that has the fuel door and you open it with a cable/latch from the cockpit. I have the flush sitting cap on top of the fus. If I can't figure out a way, I'll assign a pit bull as an ACM (Additional Crew Memeber).

Gee Willikers RB! Must be rough out there in Cali. Fear not, as soon as you guys pass Prop 19 ... you'll be able to smell them coming! [;)]

I still have this (naive I admit) belief that as bad it gets on the outside of the fence, inside the airport fence will remain a throwback (an oasis if you will) to when we could all trust our neighbors and people didn't syphon gas out of each others tanks.

The people running for office in Calif. are already smoking it ! I hear ya about inside/outside the fence, but when fuel went to $6.00/gal, fuel gauges went from full to something less than full as if by magic.

The disappearing gas was one incentive for replacing the gas cap on my bird. I installed an Aero 400 3" locking cap. I've documented the upgrade at http://home.comcast.net/~bfinney8/thorp/gas_cap.htm. NOTE: I have not lost any gas (yet), I don't think that they know where to look for my gas cap.

What a great job ! [:D] Very professional looking. [8D] I would consider this installation, but my tank is in, hole is cut in the top of the fus. I believe I may have an answer for my cap to secure it during RON's. I'll use the "old ACS cap" (the one without the "O" ring) to practice on and will advise.

Rich . Here in AUST. we pay about $ 7,56 for a US gallon. The high octane unleaded sells for about $ 5.00 a gallon. Mixing it about 50/50 seems to get good result. My eng compresssion is 9 to 1 . It runs very smooth on that mixture.

I'm not complaining. Just a thought that .high octane mogas can be mixed with avgas for good result.My 320 eng is high compression and it runs smooth as.
There is still plenty of lead left in the 50% to do its job. I want to hear some Yipees from you that you flown the bird.. Regards. J.P

Broken wrist is about 75%. In rehab now [:(] (no, not that kind of rehab!). Hope to get enough "squeeze" power in the hand in a week or two. Still able to do small stuff like soldering and installing the pitot tube.

A friend of mine pulled banners with restricted category 150/150s and PA18s. They ran 50% auto fuel when it was hot in mid summer and increased it to some unknown % when it was cooler. The pilots said they could tell when it was too much auto fuel because when they taxied out with a heat soaked engine from a quick turn they would have problems with the engines idle from vapor lock. They got cranky about that. He said as long as it was at least 50% 100oct LL they had no problems even on the hottest day.

For those who have the original thermos type cap, be advised that Mike has a solution in the works. It involves drilling, and bolting a prosealed ring inside the one you have. This turns it into a screw on cap. Its not done yet (too many irons in the fire). In the meantime, here's a testimonial. I was tired of fighting with my old cap, so I disassembled it. I ran the rubber ring on a belt sander to take the ridge off. I cleaned it well and re-assembled it. It was very easy to put on and take off. Turns out it was too easy. The first launch with a full tank had gas pouring off the passenger rudder pedals (right by electronics buss!!!) As of now, I put two laps of teflon tape around it and it seals fine. Just be advised not to take too much off the original seal.
