Has anybody looked at the T18 on Ebay. I feel like I need to warn somebody or maybe it's an optical illusion. Canopy, windshield, cowl, side skin, riveting, panel. If I buy it, can I send it to Lee for a little finish magic?

I think thats the same one a guy had listed on Barnstormers for $5K for a Thorp project and an 0-360. The pics on the Barnstormers ad (particularly the panel) look similar to this one being sold on eBay.

That airplane is a sister ship to one that was completed in the early 70s. Note the cut down deck, rounded roll bar and wider firewall. Look back at some of the early sport aviations you'll see the right up. I'd say around 1971.

That being said I wouldn't mess with it for anything more than 2k.

Yes Bob, saw it yesterday. No mention of engine 0-360 from barnstormer advert.

Noted windscreen and other workmanship items, also I raised an eye brow when I looked at the fuel tank welding. Not that I am a welding pro however, I am sure I would have built the tank significantly differently.

That said, I have seen a lot worse workmanship in other aircraft projects.

A lot of work completed, a lot of aluminum for under $ 1675 CDN.

Not worth $2000 dollars, plans and gear leg are the only items I see worth anything..............

Since it has no flaps, it probably has the short gear.

John Wallace gave me my first ride in a Thorp. His cousin, Howard Wallace, and I were in the 20 MAS at Dover flying C-141's. It was in early '72 while Nixon was campaigning for re-election. Howard was my co-pilot on a "Cold Banner" (presidential support) mission to Atlanta. We had some time on our hands while Nixon campaigned and Howard introduced me to John and Mary Bonn. As I recall the story, that is the first homebuilt certified for IFR in America. He gave me my first ride in a homebuilt. I was already hooked on EAA and building my Cassutt.
Geez---that is almost 40 yrs ago!
