Cubes, went over to Mike&Frankies today and looked at the left turn Cloud Burner. It looks GOOOOOOOOOOD! Mike a I discussed the Locks for the gear give him a call. I like the retracts, The design is a good one and if I had any fortitude left I would be building me a new center section so I could have them also!!! Good job!!!! They look like they are lighter than the standard Gear, Even if they were not retractable they are super looking just as non retracts!!! Dan

Sorry, I've been off the web for a while. Thanks for the comments, Danny. It's coming along. My engine was delivered last week. It's a GM performance parts ZZ 383 crate engine. 420hp should be enough. I will be out there tomorrow working on the engine mount.

This sounds great but I doubt if it will do what a homebuilt did for me that I built back in the late 50s and early 60s. This is the truth, but hard to believe! From the time I advanced the throttle, from a standing start I could climb through 10,000 feet in less that 18 seconds. It wasn't my T-18.

Ok Steve, I believe you, I can see you pulling a stunt like that in something that scorched the tarmack when you throttled up. Now then, tell us how bad you violated every rule in the book and what ya did it in. Come on, spit it out, my curiosity is going to eat me up here till I find out....Dan

Thanks for believing me Dan. It is very true. Back in 1976 the company I worked for sent me to Granite, Colorado and. I based my Stits Playboy with a 125 Lycoming GPU at Leadville. I only had to climb 82 feet to pass through 10,000'. The little plane had no electrical system and was light as a feather. Things were different then. The day I flew it I had only spent $670.00 in cash. Can't do that these days. By the way,
The plane is still flying near Nashville.

If I could figure out how to put pictures on this iPad, I could post some. The only ones I have at the moment are the ones Lee put in the newsletter.

Rich, I worked for a large contractor for 25 years and worked on contracts with the Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, and U. S. Navy, among others. It is scary! If a contractor is dishonest (we were not) it is unbleavable how easy it is to screw the government.
