After 12 years of good times, I am going to sell my W-8 Wittman Tailwind and would like to replace it with a nice Thorp T-18.
I am looking for a Thorp with a low to mid time 150 / 160 Lycoming engine, fixed pitch prop, VFR panel, radio and mode C transponder; 0.032" skin
would be a plus.

Thanks,
Dan

My wife likes that I fly a low wing.....she fathoms God can therefore keep a closer eye on his...."special" child manipulating the controls of an airplane. She would be concerned if I showed up one day in a high wing....

Have you checked Barnstormers?

Yep, I am watching Barnstormers every day. I have the same problem as everyone else....I have to get my Tailwind sold before I can purchase a Thorp.

My wife has a knee that gives her problems sometimes, she is most concerned about getting up and out of the T-18. Does your wife have any problem getting into / out of your Thorp ?

Gotcha......My wife has no problem getting out of my T-18.....getting her in my T-18 is as easy as getting both dogs into the bathtub during Animal Planet reruns.

I agree, getting them into the airplane can be a bigger problem than getting them out !

My wife thinks the thorp is a high speed shopping cart, all I gotta say is wanna go to the coast and she moves like a cat getting in the cockpit. She has always enjoyed flying......Dan

The ones with spouses that like to fly are really lucky! Or good.

Yep, I am very lucky. Karen has flown with me for over 42 years in 6 different planes and been airsick more time than I can count. She really likes our Tailwind because it is fast and climbs at more than 1000 ft. per minute in the summer. We take off and head up to the smooth cool air at 8 to 10,000 ft and she goes to sleep. I wake her up when its over :-)

All she has said about changing airplanes is that the new airplane has to "climb good and can't go any slower that the Tailwind". I think the Thorp T-18 will do both.

Deb never had been around small airplanes when we met. We made several trips in the Skybolt, then when the Thorp was finished, we went on our honeymoon to Oshkosh and the rest is history. Been all over the US.

I am one of the lucky ones too. Karen likes to go along on all of the trips, she both enjoys going places but also likes catching back up with all of the friends we have made in the thorp community. She also takes a lot of pictures and occasionally brings along a few cookies. She considers it a pretty big step to get up on the wing sometimes but does just fine after that. I copied Bob and got a small lightweight one step stool that folds flat and takes almost no baggage space to put on the ground right behind the wing.

Marilyn is a CFII, so I have to fight for the controls! I don't let her fly 'Feisty' solo, but she does fly it from the left seat on occasion.

Thanks Dave,
"a small lightweight one step stool that folds flat" is the idea that will work for us. ( and maybe a little square of red carpet to place on the ramp when she gets in :)
