Atten-shun T-18ers,

I’d like to introduce you to Erin and Phil, the new owners of T-18 N22DU. They recently bought Howard Ginn’s polished airplane and are really enjoying it. T-18er Brian Maisler (N31BD) is their CFI who is teaching them how to land a T-18 safely. They’ll be basing 22DU at Mojave Air and Space Port where Erin works (Engineer at Scaled Composites). Phil is at Lockheed Martin in Palmdale. They are going to be a great addition to the Thorp family.

I’m also pinging the group to see who may have a prop (and associated spinner, preferably) available for sale for a LYC O-320/150hp. My Mom, Elaine Ginn, will have her Thorp T-18CW for sale with a fresh annual as soon as we get a prop. Both Mom and Dad have gone Light Sport and will be doing their weekly bug-smashing in their T211 Sky Scooter.

For those headed to Kentucky Damn – safe travels and have fun!

Congratulations Erin and Phil. You probably have the finest true-to-the-plans example T18 in existence.

Frase, you had me at KEG! And to give Dan and the KVIS Posse a sportin’ chance at meeting Erin N Phil sooner-rather-than-later . . . LET’S HAVE A T-18 FLY-IN and FLY-OUT.

I know Dan has a tough time getting out on Fridays so we’ll accommodate. How about DEC 5 & 6 at my place on the Rosamond Skypark (L00) in sunny So-Cal?

Saturday DEC 5th Fly-IN:
Arrive whenever. Fly some, visit some, drink some. We’ll walk down to El Indio Mexican Cantina on the field at 4pm for happy hour and have dinner at 5pm. We’ll stoke up the fire pit after dinner and see who’s best at horse shoes. We can also throw some darts. (But beware … Fraser is a shark. Talks a sad story, “I haven’t thrown in years.” Probably hasn’t thrown in 0.00274 years. That’s 1 day for those without a calculator handy.)

Sunday DEC 6th Fly-Out:
Arrive whenever. Donuts/Coffee on the patio. Depart at 1000 for Santa Paula’s “1st Sunday Open Hangar Day”. KSZP has a great event and some of the pertiest antiques in existence. We can have lunch and then walk the rows or visa versa. When we’ve had our fill we’ll probably depart for home fields from there.

If there is interest I’ll announce it in a fresh POST. Sound off.

Best to all, Tony

Well, can't pass up an offer like that - be good to stretch the plane's legs in December. Extended foreign junkets and new employment has kept me from fondling her as much as she has become accustomed. I think I can slip away for a day or two.
