Hi Guys/Girls,

I'm in the process of restoring my T18 (ZS-UIE). I've dropped off the engine for rebuild (very exciting!) and started buying replacement instruments to make my dream panel. Doing research on Props etc.

In the meantime, I've gone through all the paperwork that was provided by the previous owner, and unfortunately I don't have a Pilots Operating Handbook. I am also upgrading the engine from an O-290 to an O-360, so it probably wouldn't have worked for me anyway.

My question is, how or where can I get hold of a POH? I know each aircraft is different and most people have probably customised their manuals, but is there a basic template? At the very least, limitations and anything else that might be important? There are only 3 T18's in South Africa that I know of, and I don't have contact with the owners.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Marc

If you do a search you will find a couple on this forum. Mine didn’t come with one either and I haven’t messed with it. Strictly speaking they are not needed in the USA although they do provide a convenient format for the aircraft info.

Hi Marc,

Dr. Drift and I are also working to get a revised POH put together that takes into account the performance data collected from flight test (see the recent post about the data). This will help to generate a more data-driven POH that can be custom-tailored to each person's aircraft. Will take us a bit to get it together, but just know that we are working on that effort. :)

Thanks!

Hi Marc,

First of all, what a beautiful paint job on your new T-18!

If you search the Forum, you should find a POH in Microsoft Word format that you can download and modify. You may find it's specs and performance numbers are close to your plane depending on your engine and weights. It's very well done but will need modification.
