Several have inquired about the Carbon Fiber Spinners mentioned in the newsletter. Here are a few pics ...

before anyone gets too excited about the aluminum finish, this is my "guinea pig" spinner. I'm trying out various basecoat clear coat options to create a "chrome-like" appearance. The actual products out there that do such a thing are quite pricey (around $100 per spinner). That's not bad but the penny pincher in me is trying other solutions. Needless to say I'm pretty sure if anyone wants a chrome spinner is will cost about $100. I can do that as well.

Here you go.

The second production spinner .. shipped today. The white coating is just a light coat of primer to verify there were no pin holes.

Note: those who are interested, please specify constant speed vs/fixed pitch it turns out the CS spinner is about 1" longer than the fixed pitch (12.5 vs 12.65 ID)

Wow! That even looks great up here in the cold country of Colorado. Good luck with the crome look.

Thanks guys!

Here's the chrome treatment that I've ended up deciding to go with. It's not cheap but it looks like $1M.

I've also decided to start making backplates and forward bulkheads as well. It will be a couple of weeks before the molds are ready but if we're going to do this we should do it right.

FYI I'm going to start with fixed-pitch set ups so you CS guys out there will be on hold for a bit.

Lee- Did you ever get pics of the spinner with your 'unobtainium' ($$$$) chrome paint?

Negative Doug, I haven't had the need yet and no one has requested the $$$$ paint yet. On another note, I'm in the process of making a mold for the 12.5 back-plate. Just didn't seem prudent to have the spinner crack proof and not the back plate. The spinner and back plate come as a package.

Has anyone attempted making a "screwless spinner" yet?
