Has anyone ever written a book about Don Taylor's round the world flight? I still have all his notes and have been thinking about it. My latest and second novel is just out and doing well so I have some time now. It's on Amazon.com and also ebooks The Hawksbill Crag, Civil War bushwhacker story. www.thehawksbillcrag.com Been away from flying for too long, still look up when by neighbor does a low pass and think I should be up there in my T-18 to out run that RV.
Best wishes to the group, Richard Snelson
email: rsnelson0984@mchsi.com Don Taylor's book should be called The Second Battle of Midway... do you know why?

I believe on his leg into Midway there were some miscommunications, he ended up landing without a clearance (they had no idea who he was) and got quite a azz-chewing for it, I think they held him for several days.

If you haven't been to Midway it is a BEAUTIFUL little island. It was under the contol of the Navy and now I believe the Dept of the Interior (or maybe Fish and Game) owns the deed to the rock. You can take flights from PHNA to Midway and stay for a few days to a couple of weeks. SCUBA diving, deep sea fishing, etc. I got to spend 2 nites on Midway during a WESTPAC deployment with the Navy. I would rather spend time there than on Wacky Wacky Beach ! Fraser would like it as the Gooney Birds get mighty frisky a few times a year ! Stupid birds ! [:p]
