That is how I did mine on my old Thorp (N118GG) and the new one is set up identically. I don't think I checked it with more than 5 gallons in the tank though. In flight one should get even improved flow due to the pressurization of the tank via the ram air entering the vent line. I've never had a problem in about 3000 hrs combined in these 0-360 powered Thorps. KISS! If it ain't there, it can't fail.

On a full power takeoff with my O-360, my fuel flow indicates about 14+ gal/hr. That's about a quart per minute. My gravity feed will do much better than that. Like Gary no issues so far, but I only have 57 hrs on mine since I rebuilt it.
