Just a curiosity question: What document shows the serial number that is assigned to your airplane?

I've never come across any note or stamp on my drawings.

I don't know if this is the case for all sets of drawings, but I have a hand written letter from John Thorp that I was told originally accompanied the drawings that states the serial number.

There are two routes taken here;
The first the builder can select to use the serial number assigned by JT or by Lu Sunderlund. These records are available if you know the original purchaser of the plans. Most builders choose this route.
The second is to register the plane as serial number one or any number you choose since you are the builder. The airplane is basically a "Williams-Thorp". under the direction of the FAA my was registered as a Williams-Thorp S-18, Serial number 1 , even though my plans number is 175....

I have a letter from LS with the S/N (2019) on it and it was also on a receipt when I purchased the S-18 plans in 1984.

Eklund Engineering assigns a new serial number to each new plans set sold. If an individual is merely replacing a set and has the original serial number we use that number. We started our serial number series at 3000 to avoid confusion with John Thorp's or Lou Sunderland's (2000series) numbers.
