N711SH has been an official airplane for 30 years. First flown by yours truly on 19 Feb, 1984, she has almost 2800 hrs on her. While this may not be a record, she has been from Bar Harbor, ME to San Diego, CA and Kingsley Field, OR to Key West, FL. In Dec of last year, I passed 50 years as a licensed pilot. That makes 711SH a big part of my flying experience.

Bob, Congratulations! I think those stats are exceptional. And thanks for all you contribute to the Thorp community.

I have fond memories of that airplane .. First time I climbed at over 2000 fpm, went over 200, upside down and rode in formation. Come to think of it I remember a rapid decent demo as well. Had it not been for 711SH, 51863 would still be putting around with the 150 hp boys.

You the man Bob ! That is quite the accomplishment ! For you and the airplane ! 8) I really enjoyed flying on your wing when we had the fly in at Gillespie . Let's hope both our airframes last as long as the airplanes ! :o

That's quite an accomplishment and definitely something to be proud of, both you and the airplane. We always look forward to seeing you both at most get togethers. You are an inspiration to us all, thanks.

I say Amen to all of the previous comments... we're so lucky to have you in this group! I remember the first year you had the Thorp at OSH - it looked so good to me, and gave me extra incentive to keep going & get mine flying. Thanks, Bob!

Yeah, congratulations Bob! That's really awesome. I put the 48 in my tail number hoping to get to all of CONUS. I'll never forget you and 711SH were the first to roll me!
