Hello, all, I didn't see a spot for new member intros so I'll put it here. I have been bumming around the homebuilt aircraft community for about 25 years. My work take my family and me from one country to the next every few years, so to date I have only built small boats, not airplanes. My interests tend to focus on low and slow, wood and fabric designs (Pietenpol, Volksplane, Flying Flea, etc.). Some of you may know me as the editor of the Clutton FRED site on behalf of Eric Clutton or from other discussion groups. That said, I have started to think about tackling a project to build a plane with some real speed and cross-country legs, and I would like to learn more about scratch-built sheet metal construction, so this seems like the place to be. I'll probably just lurk for a while, reading up, not only on building but also on keeping the T-18 as light as possible and getting good performance out of modest power. Cheers from Nairobi, Matthew |

I've had a chance to look over a nicely completed T-18, but I missed many of the details I'm now seeing in my (recently acquired) plans. Elements of the original, simple design led to some odd work arounds as the concept evolved. |
