I was hoping to be lazy and send my T-18 seat frames out to a shop that would foam/upholster my seat frames. My seats are worn out. Anyone have any recommendations other than finding a local automotive upholstery shop?

Hi Ryan, I am planning on sending my seats for 218TH out to Oregon Aero for them to put together. I was going to buy some memory foam and have it done locally..Take a look at their website for options.

I checked them out on the Internet, but I haven't called them. I stopped my Internet search when I saw that Classic Aero Designs had their RV8 seats starting at $1,500. If I can make my seats look good, I will try and do it myself. I was hoping to stay away from spending north of $1,000 for my seats, but like anything else, I think I would be money (and looks) ahead to bite the bullet, call Oregon Aero and get them done right.

Renee and I re- upholstered our seats. Cost maybe $100.- $200 bucks and took a weekend to do. I think they look,…OK, but the main thing is that they have just the right amount of foam right where I want it.

Went to the local auto upholstery shop and had both seats done for about $400.00 . Extra firm (don't skimp here) foam in the bottom and backs . Heavy duty fabric and extra thick vinyl material for the covers . Over 3 years old and still look new . BOOM ! :o

I was looking through my 'future' stuff trying to find the brochure from Oregon Aero. I spent some time speaking in depth with them during last years Sun N Fun. I found the sample packet with the wool swatches in it but not the brochure. Anyway, I remember thinking that each seat (foam and covering in wool fabric would be in the range of 400 per seat. I'll keep trying to find the info- Right now I have Cubes looking for the seat back hinges. I know Mike offered them, they just haven't made themselves seen since the big move.

I made my own hinges using an "eye" bolt, bar stock, 2x4, table saw, and lathe.
