Good morning all. New owner here from the Great White North (Canada, eh). I purchased C-FSBD (s/n# 348) from Dick Schaub out of Ontario. While there are a few of us Thorpe T18 owners in Canada, from what i can gather, this will be the only Thorp T18 in Atlantic Canada. i do have a few hours in the left seat so far (approx 4). Mother nature decided that we needed a longer winter season this year and cut my flying season short. Now that there's 5' of snow on the runway, and FSBD is tucked away, my loving wife thinks we should head down to the Orlando FL area for a couple weeks in March (2019).. Just wondering if there may be anyone in that Orlando/Tampa region that might be willing to spend some time with new owner? Nothing specific in mind, just wanting to meet someone with same interest and hopefully i might gain abit of knowledge from others experiences with the T18.
Thanks,
Chris Pryor

Chris, if you are driving down I live right on the route and would be pleased if you could stop for a while. If the weather is good we could fly some. I live near Saint Matthews, SC which is about 20 minutes west of I-95, about 7 hours north of Bob. I have a standard wing T-18 with 180hp and a fixed prop. I built it and have been flying it now for 40 years! My cell # is 520-237-3373.

Hi Chris,

I bought my Thorp S-18 last year to commute from Gainesville, FL to Tampa. I'm in Tampa 2 to 3 times a week and would be happy to meet. I fly in to Peter OKnight airport, which is really a beautiful site from the air or ground.

The guys on this site, and in this thread, are the true pros. I'm happy to give you my limited perspective from a relatively new owner. There was a unicorn 4-place Thorp here in Tampa, but my good friend bought that and flew it to Kansas City.

PM me your planned schedule and I'll be happy to accommodate, either in Tampa or we could get a few folks together nearby.

Congrats on your purchase. It's an amazing airplane that offers so much for a modest price. I was born and raised on the other side of Canada, in Calgary. I was very close to buying an RV-3 there, but thankfully Cubes and Lee stepped in and showed me that buying the Thorp and avoiding the import process was the right choice.
