I've passed 2 hurdles. The wife said "yes" and the insurance company will not require my first born child. A moderate amount of money, 3 hrs in a Thorp with an instructor and 2 more hours solo before any passengers will satisfy them. (A new garden shed will make the wife happy .. ;D )

I have 2 airplanes .. fun to fly .. but slow, a J-3 and a Great Lakes. And I may have to sell one of those, unless I can figure a way to make all three fit in my hangar.

I have yet to get a flight in a Thorp but there is one about a 30 minute flight away.. or a 45 minute drive. (That one, N149RH, is simply stunning!) I think I need to do that next.

Call me and we’ll go flying in 149RH. I’m also a CFI...

We have a 1996 T-18 CW that would certainly fit under the wing of a J-3! 150HP, VFR, flies straight and great. It was my Mom’s plane and she always flew cross country in Dad’s T-18. This plane only has 180 hours TTSN.

I am looking for a prop (and hopefully a spinner, too) if anyone has one to sell. It’s currently flying on a borrowed set. A new owner could get it cheaper and the get the prop of their choice (cruise, climb, 3-bladed, ground adjustable, etc).

I’ll try to post some pics from my phone. If that doesn’t work I’ll post some tonight.

I've got one to look at in Northern Virginia 1st but the one above looks very nice. I am on the coast of NC. OTOH I'm retired and have time for a long cross country .. if that plane is where your area code references (California).

I would imagine that 149RH and your Mom’s plane have spent time together...
