I recently purchased a T-18 project outfitted with an aerocarb which is built by Sonex. My initial thoughts were to discard it and go with something a little more traditional. However after talking with my local A&P I have decided to at least research it a bit. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this type of carb on a T-18. The aerocarb presents a kind of unusual set of hindrances such as needing a source of cool static air for the intake "ram air is a no no." they also claim because of the carbs design there is no need for carb heat. Any thoughts on an air inlet or any issues regarding this situation would be appreciated.
