I know each airplane is different in regards to weight, how it was built etc...
However, I am trying to find out the average speed owners are getting with the 0-290.
I realize there are variables but like to hear what you guys are getting on your typical cruise altitude and power setting.
Thank you.

I re-worked an 0-290 powered airplane that now belongs to Eric Smithenry up in Olney, IL. Top end was around 165-170 mph, throttled back at 2500 yielded around 140 mph. It could use a bit more prop as it climbs like a homesick angel (plus it's a Felix prop ... and AD would really help)! There are no brake or upper cuff fairings, in addition it has the old leaf spring tailwheel (rather than the rod). With those additions I pretty sure he could get another 10mph out of it.

N6CM runs 160 to 170 at 2450 rpm. Full power and cold mornings and no wind about 190 or so.

That makes me feel good, as I'm hot on the trail of a T-18 with an O-290D2B, and a Ted Hendrickson prop.
