Don't shoot the newbie here. And I'm not sure a throttle question belongs in the powerant section. I also didn't think it was a fuel system topic either so here it is:

While I fly left hand on the control yoke and right hand on throttle. I prefer to fly left hand throttle and right hand when flying an aircraft with a stick control.

I'd also like to have the ability for both seats to have full controls including the throttle.

Is it even possible to have a left hand throttle for the pilot seat and also a center throttle for the passenger? Thus providing each occupant with left throttle and right hand stick capability?

I don't know how the two throttle controls wouldeet and "mix" to allow this to be accomplished. Has anyone done such a thing?

I realize this is complicating things which is something to generally avoid.

Might be easier for me to just fly from the right seat with single center throttle control. As a CFI it really doesn't matter if I fly left or right seat. But then I'd arrange the flight instruments in the panel to favor the right side which would defiantly hurt any future resale value for sure.

There are a few guys out there with the setup you describe. It's not really necessary though, reaching the left throttle from the right seat is easy.

Some guy on VAF has pictures of this type of setup and describes how he did it. He even has a youtube (I think) video of him flying it. Sorta weird to see the middle knobs move by themselves.

Lee,

It's not the right seat issue.

I want to have the left seat also have a left throttle. As well the right.

Dual throttles are common and it's easy direct mechanical connection in tandem aircraft. But in a side by side it's another story.

It sounds as if others have figured this out. So it can be done and would at least not be totally reinventing the wheel. So it's doable. The question remains whether or not it is worth the effort.

I understand that my point is that from the right seat you can easily reach over and fly using the left hand throttle

Ohh. I thought you meant the center throttle. Not a far left sidewall throttle.

I recently saw a pic where I think you have a left side pilot throttle.

Thanks

Looks like the latest Sport Aviation had a brief article about dealing with a dual throttle situation. Or at least one possible solution.
