Guys, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Surefly ignition system in their Thorp? I have an IO-320-D1A with the Hartzell C/S prop and will need to do the Slick, 500 hour check soon. The Surefly web info looks good but so do all the others. I like the fact that it is basically a plug and play system because I don't have real estate on my firewall for control boxes. Also the fact that it is an STC'd system helps with the confidence factor. Any feedback would be appreciated. regards, Jim |

I have one in my Thorp .. same setup as you Jim. IO-320/CS prop. Jason Hutchison is the head of the company and a friend. I was one of the first adopters ... never had so much as a hint of a problem. Lee |

Just a thought. I have slicks as well. I have the old style with metal gears. I’m over 1300 hours on them without messing with them. To me, if my mag timing doesn’t move a single degree in 21 years, I’m not touching them. Cubes |

Lee, Do you have your Surefly set up for the advanced mode where it will alter the timing up to 38 degrees? If so do you see highter CHT's? Regards, Jim |

Jim, No mine is set up standard, I may chose to put it in advanced mode at some time though, I’m going to talk to Jason about that in a few weeks. |
