Post subject:  Changing from O-320 to O-360

Looking for some info here. My aircraft went in for it's annual inspection and they grounded it due to a problem with the bearings on the crank shaft. I've been quoted between AUD$25k to 45k to fix it so due to that (& not being able to find a part life engine in Australia) I've been considering upgrading to an O-360 as the extra bit of power would be helpful since I operate mostly out of short farm strips.

So the question I have is how much work/changes would be needed to fit a 360 instead of a 320 and is there a certain model I should be looking for? The current engine in the aircraft is a wide deck O-320-E2A.

Thanks guys

It should only be a change in the baffles as the O-360 is a bit wider. The case is the same. Also, the O-360 uses a larger carb.

Do not get an angle valve as they will not fit under the cowl. The engine is also heavier which will require some W/B offset.

Tha ks for the replys guys, all useful information. I'll keep an eye out for a decent 360 now since it sounds fairly straigh forward.
