Here is my issue. Just not any room under that carb. there is about 1 inch clearance at the lowest point. Any suggestions on best path forward?

Most guys with carbs use some type of intake scoop to make room.

Ryan, my "banjo" air box has about 1" of clearance from the carb to the bottom of the air box. Reference photos above, the last one show the bowl around the carb, according to -782 it is 3" deep, the air box -781 is also 3" deep. My engine seems to breath just fine, the filter is 11" dia x 3" deep.

It looks like if you want more than 1" clearance that there is some fiber glass work on the horizon. 8)

Yep, I think you're right Bruce. I just have to make myself cut that fiberglass. I really didn't want to do that. This cowl does have the scoop attached already, so that's why I'm a little surprised at the way its all fitting together.

Ryan : Hard to tell from your pics , but my glass scoop appears to be deeper than yours ? I got mine from Mike Archer many years ago and it was actually a two piece part...the scoop and the lower cowl . You had to off set the scoop slightly to fit the carb/filter/carb heat box . Even then it is a tight fit on the sides to get the carb assembly to fit . Eleven years later no problems noted .

Thanks Rich, lowering the scoop is another option I hadn't considered. That may be a solution.
