Here's one way to do it ... disregard the massive mount, that was legacy (used to have a wind-up actuator) and removing it would have done more damage than good. On the current project (and soon Wendell's as well) I have a similar setup but the actuator is mounted via 2 sections of 2 X 1/8" angle (trimmed down) bolted to the 596 bulkhead/beam upper and lower angles.

Can you post some pics of your baggage area.....specifically how you supported the floor and worked around the push pull tube.
The flap install is very clean and simple...some mechanical advantage there also. What flap motor did you use?

Scott, I used the Van's RV-6,7 etc. flap motor jack screw. It has a built in clutch, so you do not need to mess with limit switches. Plus it has ben well tested in hundreds of RV's. On the down side, it is a little costy. I have over 500 trouble free hours on it.

I'll take some pics of the floor and how it is supported. The floor is made out of 5 ply aircraft spruce, from ACS.

Here are a couple of shots of the flap motor install in the garage project. Oh and I took advantage of the last "warm" day of the year (apparently) and primed the rest of the airplane yesterday. May seem premature but I like to "seal in" the airplane before I start plumbing things, as usual it took about 3 weeks to get the thing ready to spray and 2 hours to actually get it coated.

Speaking of cosmic... I completely forgot to look at flap installations at T82. I have a bit of a problem on MLMP with the leading edge of the flaps contacting/rubbing/getting dented by wing bolts on the rear spar. Am I alone? Any suggestions? I have seen some pics in the NL's, I think, where the leading edge was cut away to relieve the interference. I was thinking of installing hard "up" stops inside, possibly adjustable, and/or a foam rubber strip on the rear spar to form a seal. Has anyone tried any of these things?

I notched out for the bolts. I would have to look, but I think it is on the plans ?

Lee or Dick. Where you attached the angles for the actuator onto the bulkhead did you reinforce the bulkhead in any other way?

The 596 Bulkhead has 3/4 Angle running the span on the upper and lower edge. I tie in to these with the actuator attach angle. That's plenty stout for the job.

Anybosy has updated pictures, dimensions of cables or any other info for the install? I have bought the firgellli actuator and I am ready to build the system, but I want to see what everyone has done.
