Aileron trim.

I see that most people put in a tab and electric motor/servo mounted into the aileron.

Is not the balance of the aileron changed by the weight of the motor and if so, why would this not introduce the increased risk of flutter?

No flutter here after almost 200 hours with the Gizmo in the Aileron ! ::) The only flutter I get is from the co-pilot flapping his lips as he tries to talk ! ???

Anytime you mess with a fully designed aircraft, especially flight controls, you are becoming a test pilot. Yes it will have flutter implications. What they are and how severe are anyone's guess.

Over 2700 hrs on aileron mounted servo and tab. My guess is the off center aileron hinge line keeps flutter in check. Next time you are near a Glasair, check the rudder hinge arrangement. Those boys have pushed that design well past 300 kts. I believe JT once said the mass weights on the ailerons were to keep the stick centered when you got in and out of the plane. Just sayin'.

I too have the same aileron trim as Bob and after 1300 hours of flight. I often wonder how the weights are compromised by the different sticks. I've seen nothing attached to the top of the stick to one of those fighter grips that have 27 switches that control everything including the coffee pot. Now you talk about out of balance in the controls, go figure.
