Post subject:  Electric Elevator Trim 'shear pin'

I have electric elevator trim and either a roll pin or shear pin broke that connects the electric motor and the trim jackshaft. It looks like it just wore down over time rather than there being some sort of event that caused the shear. The hole seems to be just a hair smaller than 1/16" in diameter. Does anyone know the correct part to replace this pin? The stamping on the motor is hard to read, but from what I can see it looks like it says "Barber-Coleman FYQM33610-1"

I'd probably go to the hardware store and find an appropriately sized roll pin

Thanks Lee. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some specific reason not do do that.

What Lee said. Mine broke as well, with the stabilator trim full up during takeoff. That was an interesting ride. Forward pressure the whole way 'round the pattern to landing.

My A&P pushed out the remnants of the old pin and shoved in a new one, nothing special, just a NAPA or hardware or similar store. Bring the old one with you for sizing.

Might consider using a cotter pin. Easier to replace.
