Saw a advertisement on Barnstormers
for a "straight" wing Thorp.
What is it?, other than the obvious.

thats interesting. The advertisement says 22 gallons per wing and looking at the photos, it would seem there is no fuel tank behind the panel. I would be interested to know where those wings came from too.

No cowl cheeks either. It looks like the cowl vents out the bottom.

I'm not seeing that 22+22 = 48, but then, I didn't do well with 'New Math'.
I would liked to have seen more detail in the ad, but often the seller is not the original builder.
I guess one would have to call on the ad as an interested buyer to find out more.
I hate doing that unless I really want to buy.

Me too, more curious than anything.
I did e-mail though, but those are easy and fast to delete.

Is it a fiberglass wing ? Looking at the pic with the kid sittin on it , it sure looks smooth ? How long is it ? How does the engine cool ? Looks like some mods done to the canopy ? Large rivet pattern on the co-pilot side , just aft of the seat on the fus. side ? Exhaust looks like Custom Aircraft ?

Not sure about the wing but the fuselage mod has been done a few times. Basically the firewall is widened and the forward fuselage does not taper back in. This eliminates the cheecks, the cooling air exits out the bottom as it does in most other aircraft.

Interesting Thorp. Anyone notice the panel is set up to solo from right seat? I would like to fly it and compare with bent wing T-18.
