I have the "older" I Fly 700 and they keep improving the unit thru free software updates. I now get terrain info and a butt load of other free info each time I update the unit ! Sounds like the 720 is a good unit. I suppose I could trade in mine directly to IFly and get a $200.00 credit toward the new 720. Not really sure how many more new "features" I need as a VFR pilot ? ![]() ![]() RB |

Does this do much more than foreflight on an ipad? Better visibility in sunlight I imagine? CC |

Started with the 700 and now have the 720 . Very good unit for those of us that are computer challenged . The only draw back with the 700/720 is that is does not have an internal battery . The 740 does . I believe John Evens has the 740 (it has an internal battery) and may shed some lite on its features . If you like Caveman electronics (take it out of the box and use it w/o looking at the instructions) I give these units 4 and 3/4 stars . If you are going to be at KVIS this year , I will have my 720 available for show and tell. ![]() RB ![]() BaBaLoo |

I have owned the 520, 700, 720, and now the 740. I like the products, the subscription price and the support. I did think the 520 was too small, but some folks may appreciate that. As Rich said, its very intuitive. I use mine to drive my autopilot. I also have a Skyguard ADSB unit tied to it, so I get ADSB-in and weather. I have never used foreflight, so I cant make any comparison. |

Rich is right - I have a 740 for my new Kitfox project, but haven't used it much yet. It is very bright, and a nice size. I'll use it to drive the autopilot in the Kitfox, as well as displaying weather & traffic from my NavWorx ADS600-EXP ADS-B unit. The battery is strictly for short-term use, but will be adequate to do what it needs to do if ship's power is lost. I like it. Like Ryan said, updates are very reasonable and support seems to be great. It displays "seamless" VFR charts, IFR High & Low enroute charts, and vector charts, terrain, etc.,etc. It has built-in Wi-Fi, uses an SD memory card and has tons of other features. My Thorp has a Garmin 196, as well as a (still working) GPS-100, the first "aircraft" GPS unit made by Garmin - I was an "early adopter". |

The hardest part will be mounting the radome off the struts. |
