I also am planning on attending. It would be my Oshkosh visit as well.

As billeting is a concern and I would like to secure it as soon as possible. A schedule of T-18 activities ASAP would help with securing a house and locking in the rental dates. NOW is not too early ! I am NOT the Central Billeting Officer. :o I plan to get ONE house as close to OSH as possible w/a car. I think I already have 4-5 warm bodies set-up to bunk up. If the house can hold more than 5 I will post the info. :)

Regards,

Tom Bodet

I'll start posting this as it is updated or changes significantly but here is the "Idea List' for next year.

For Rich and others: You really should plan on more than 2-3 days. You can't "do" OSH in the week alloted, let alone a couple of days. For the 2-2 1/2 day journey there, you would do yourself an injustice to just turn around and go back.

Amen to that- you can't see it in 5 days. You can walk 2.5 miles and never be out of reach of an airplane. The vendors are equal to the airplanes. Tell em Duke!

I plan to spend most of the week there, depending on the amount of air conditioning available.

I'll do whatever Cubes does...AC availability required. Most of a week sounds about right.

Even though the EAA web site sez to wait until Nov. 2012 to check for a private residence to rent, I went on the EAA site NOW and found a house 1.8 miles from the airport and I am working on securing the private house for the week. ;) 28 July 2013 thru 2 Aug 2013. Right now I have all 5 beds filled. $68.00/nite for each of us. AC, everything provided (Towels, sheets, snacks, bottled water, multiple TV's, etc) use of the BBQ and 2 cars (no rental charge for the cars) . :o Tony Ginn said he had AC rooms at the dorm that he was not going to use. This was as of KVIS Fly In. Don't remember how many rooms ? Not sure if they are still available ? O0

"Have I told you what a GREAT TIME I had at Oshkosh!" Bill and Bob both hear this every time I see them since I've been back from Oshkosh (so does my wife!). By the way, it's been over a month now, and I still feel that way. Rich and others, please, please, please, do yourselves a favor, and plan on a week at Oshkosh. I promise you that it WILL be WORTH it. And it's not just Airventure..................it's the WHOLE experience of the week. From the morning we pulled the planes out of the hanger @ LAL, to when Bill and I landed back home, it was an Adventure (I took over 650 pics of the week). One other thing, I live here in SNF land, and I've been going to it since the late 80's, and believe me when I say this, it's way............way...............way................bigger!!

Not to worry. We have a house locked in...everything furnished. AC, BBQ, 1.8 miles from the airport with 2 cars available (no charge). Arriving 28 July (Sun) departing 3 Sept. I think 5 days is Muey Bueno for El Pollo Loco . "Smell the Excitment !" :P

650 pics ? How about sharing 5.

That's great Bill! Thanks for doing that!

By the way... you wimps who absolutely, positively must have A/C must really be getting old & weak... I might have some time to help push you around OSH if you don't die from the heat while flying to get there. ::) I plan to be there 7 or 8 days.

Right on Bill - should be fun....

John - you have a low empty weight, larger whetted area per lb, create more lift and stand taller thereby taking advantage of the cooler and less dense air at altitude, therefore thermal dynamics play less of a role with regard to fatigue on your working parts, as opposed to those of us with higher gross weights and lower CGs.
