My canopy rails are nicely grooved after many hours of use. Before I go and make up a new pair as per the drawing, I thought I'd ask if anyone has made any improvements in this area.

The plans call for a steel bearing. I use a small plastic shower door roller ($1.89 @ Home Depot) with 17 years of wear and have replaced a couple. No wear on the tracks whatsoever.
