I flew with it unlatched one day. I was by myself and the canopy closed at the beginning of the run up. By the time I finished the run up I had forgotten about it. No harm done but now I latch it shut before I do the run up.

I bent up a stainless steel tab that catches the roller bearings in their aft-most position. Works great.

I think I'm the one who came up with that idea quite a few years ago, Tony... works pretty well, especially if you don't have a lot of sidewall upholstery in that area. I know I sent some stainless material to your brother for that purpose back when.

I can confirm that 149RH has an identical tab John. Tony, Did you make it for Scott?

Made mine from scraps in the where did I put that drawer ? ::) Nothing more than a small piece of angle , a piece of spring steel and a nylon latch made from some left over nylon strip . I also used miniature screws and nuts . :P To keep the canopy open I push with one hand to the full open position and then push foward on the canopy to seat the frame in the nylon latch . To close push the canopy full open with one hand hold open the nylon latch portion and then push the canopy frame past the nylon latch . :o BADA BING , BADA BOOM !
