As I studied which airplane to build almost 30 years ago , I picked the S-18 as I knew by the time I got it done hangar rent in San Diego would be expensive !

I also found a house that had a flat pad next to the main house to build a hangar/workshop .

As you can imagine to find a hangar to rent in San Diego now will cost $400-500 a month for a single unit . You can find some that are cheaper , but you need to drive a considerable distance to get there .

The AC has been at the home hangar now for 3 years and I am very happy with the folding wing concept . Even at the lower end of the hangar rent I have saved a butt load of $$$ . As far as the "Luxury Tax" I have my County Sign Tax sign off sheet with me on my clip board . 12 sign offs and I pay NO County tax on the AC . It is a royal pain , but it saves me an addition $400.00 a year .

The other benefit of keeping the AC at home is that I don't have to have 2 sets of tools to work on the AC . Sure as Obama Care if I had a hangar at the airport , I would need some tool I left at home !
 BOO YA !
   BOO YA !RB
