Post subject:  How do i get transition training?

Been looking at MMII and T18's a bit. I have found a t18 that looks promising, but I need a T/W endorsement and transition training. Problem is I have to take the wings off the plane and ship it to hawaii if I purchase it. There might be one or two t/w cfi's on the islands but I don't think there are any t18's. Any ideas? I can fly to the mainland and try to get transition training in the plane I'm buying if there's a cfi close, then ferry it myself to CA and load it in a container but that's a timing disaster. Does anyone have a letter to provide training in their t18 like some guys do for vans?

It only takes a letter (LODA) to charge for transition training for the aircraft. You can get training in a Thorp as long as you do not pay for the aircraft itself.
I do transition training in Vegas. But I would advise you get a TW endorsement first.

After your tailwheel endorsement, you may consider one of the Texas courses flying one of the RV6. The more side by side tailwheel time you have the better. The airplanes are close enough to let you transfer your skills to the thorp. Speeds on final are slightly faster with the T-18.
The key to not damaging your airplane is getting good tailwheel training.

Well, talking with the seller it sounds like the t18 just isn't right for my mission so I'm back to looking for an rv6 unfortunately
But the suggestions still apply and are appreciated

The problem I've always had is the trainers are citabras or decathlon and after I get in there's about 100lb left for a cfi and gas. Anyone know a 4'8" tailwheel lady cfi? :)

I actually met one yesterday at Osh. Well, she said she was but she looked to be about 17 which kind of made me nervous about the whole "experience" thing. Of course as I get older they all look younger and younger.
