So-Cal Thorp Fly-In on DEC 5 & 6 at the Rosamond Skypark (L00)
Oct, Nov and Dec are our best flying months. Low winds and cool temps so come one, come all. There are some new T-18s from the So-Cal area that are planning on attending and rumor has it my folks, Howard and Elaine, will be coming from Central Arizona in their Sky Scooter.
Saturday DEC 5th Fly-IN:
Arrive whenever. We’ll meet some new T-18ers and catch up with the others. We'll do some flying before and/or after lunch. Since some are only in for the day we’ll shoot for lunch at 1300 at El Indio Mexican Cantina on the field (we think it's good food but it's probably not KVIS Gloria & Missy great food). That will allow more flying afterwards and allow the day-trippers to get home before sunset at 5pm.
For those staying, we’ll stoke up the BBQ and burn something or order up some pizzas. We’ll do Dinner around the fire pit and let the stories begin. There’s also horseshoes & darts that may need some throwin’. There are no rental cars in our one-exit town but between my cars and others we’ll get you to/from your hotels.
Sunday DEC 6th Fly-Out:
Arrive whenever. Donuts/Coffee on the patio. Depart at 1000 for Santa Paula’s “1st Sunday Open Hangar Day” – it’s only 53 nm away. KSZP has a great event and some of the pertiest antiques in existence. We can have lunch and then walk the rows or visa versa. When we’ve had our fill we’ll probably depart for L00 or to your home fields.
For those new to my place at Rosamond Skypark: roll off the L00 runway and taxi east to the end of the black asphalt. Mine is the white hangar with green trim on the North side of the taxiway (tennis court on the hangar ramp). If you taxi onto the concrete taxiway you’ve gone too far. (Google Earth 3636 Felsite Ave, Rosamond CA for situational awareness.)
Hope to see you there!!
