Lycoming service letter L192B indicates you can use REM37BY's in most 0-320's and 0-360's

I have been using the 40s .......Dan

37by's have solved my fouling while taxiing problems. Been using them for many years.

I'm with Bob, did not know they made anything other than 37BY's. Used Champions for many years until they started having problems and switched to Tempest.

UREM37BY for me. Been in my bird since late 99.

Ok. Tempest UREM37BY is what I ordered: $24.45 ea. Same price at Chief and Aircraft Spruce.

Take a Champion plug and looking down the ignition barrel end you will see a slot for a screw driver. You can remove this screw and the resistor will fall out. This seems to be the problem with Champion as they are not sealed and the resistor and contacts develop a high resistance. The Tempest plug is a sealed unit. Taking a ohm meter and measure from center to center of the electrode, it should not not measure more than 5K ohms. Any higher will result in a fouled plug. Tempest says that a high resistant plug does not fire a "sharp" spark but kind of smolders which is bad for the engine.
