My son and I looked over this nicely restored P-51D today. Notable (at least to me) was the condition of the front half or so of the airfoil. It had been done over in aerodynamic smoothing compound. Sheet aluminum generally delivers laminar flow over only a small area or a limited angle of attack range, but it looked as if this P-51 stood a pretty good chance of getting it over about 40% of the airfoil.
Those wanting to go an extra lap in the finishing of their T-18 might be interested in the product. However, the relatively thin sheet of the T-18 may not be the best application for it. I'd skip it, but it sure made for a very pretty wing.
