Is anyone running a mechanical fuel pump (successfully) WITHOUT a cooling shroud?

I have ran one for 22 years on N30WW. I fly with the mechanical , land and take off with the electric or any time below 1000 feet AGL. I guess this is a carry over from my Cherokee days. Dick you know you have restarted the no fuel saga on a Thorp.

I have never used a shroud.. Bottom line 93.2 % do not use a fuel pump and 93.2 % do

I just run a blast tube to shoot air over my mech pump . :o I also have one for each mag . :P BOOM ! Now you know the rest of the story ! ::)

I too have a mechanical pump, I leave it on the shelf at the hanger so I don't have to worry about it getting hot........just sayin. Dan
