I received the following from old friend & EAA Chap.512 President Hal Stephens...

John,

If you are still in the Thorp T-18 Association would you mind passing this e-mail along to their website.

Critch finished building N8TT after we had the first Thorp Flyins here in Placerville. Nancy and I did that in his behalf as he was a builder but had never had the opportunity to ride in one. His smile after his first Thorp ride was a pleasure to watch! The plane is now in Florida and owned by a Mr. Lee I believe.

Critch was a WWII fighter pilot who was on the invasion force into Japan flying a P-51 Mustang and after the war was a KC-97 commander until his retirement.

John, thanks for posting Hal Stephens' obit on Jim Critchfield. Sorry to hear of his passing. It brought back lots of great memories of Placerville flyins in the good old days.

I got the extream pleasure of flying Critch's pride and joy red T-18 to Florida with new owner, Jerry Lee. A really sweet flying plane, it showed marks of craftsmanship all over. Having met Critch, I certainly understood his reticence in letting her go. He was great guy!
