Hello, prospective owner trying to learn more….

About the Thorp tailwheel, is it a “Lockable” type? If so how and when is it locked?

Can anyone identify this make of tailwheel setup? Is it a common type on T-

Appears to be an "Aviation Products" double fork tailwheel.

That is a Trusty spring with the A/P tail wheel. They are out of business. We are sourcing another supplier. I hope to have something really soon.

Flyboy accessories is probably the best bet at this point.

I have some in production from DJM if you care to look at them. They are having to modify their standard ones to fit our spring. I really hope this will solve our problems.

Here's a round spring and 6" wheel from Steen Aero Lab for their Skybolt bi-plane:

https://www.steenaero.com/product/skybo ... heel-assy/

No information on spring dimensions or a socket mount. $700.00.
.
I'd expect the tail weight on a Skybolt to be comparable to the T-18.

To Address the first question. A more appropriate labeling would be that this is a steerable tailwheel. There's a pin that engages until there is sufficient side load and then it swivels. It will reengage once the steering plate aligns with the fork. Hope this helps. And if Cubes finds something satisfactory - that'll be a good replacement .

Blue Skies,
T

I picked up a complete assembly on Barnstormers a few months ago for a steal. Here are the details of the attach points that fit the standard fuse mount points.

Make sure you paint it Rob. That is raw 4130. Other than that, you are good to go.
