Ok, so I'm socked in, in Maine. Looks like possibility to make it as far as New York, but, would be stuck again for several days. So, looks like one less Thorp at Osh. I think we're going to throw everything in the car and start driving. I have 5 days reserved at the University of Wisc. If someone wants to use the room tonight since I wont make it until tomorrow, all yours. My cell 207-458-4138.

Chuck

Real nice meeting you folks at OSH. Sorry I didn't get around to meeting everyone. I've got my enthusiasm back. Can't wait to get going again on MLM. Unfortunately it will take even longer now that I've stolen so many good ideas.

Thanks for the great eats too.

Incidentally, I mentioned this to a few folks on the flight line, but I should have announced it at the luncheon. I dropped in on Dick Penman in Dryden, MI on the way to the show, and he asked me to pass on his best regards to the group. It was a great visit for me; he gave me many tips and if I had stayed as long as I wanted to, I would never have made it to OSH. His airplane still looks fantastic.

Oh, and Lee, I picked up the spinner in Port Huron on the way home and I am very pleased. Nice job.

Made it back home on Friday evening from OSH. Had a great time seeing all my Thorp friends and met a few new Thorp folks. Had a good turnout at the Thorp luncheon. Hope everyone that flew in makes it home safely.

Down and Safe back home after a whirlwind week at OSH

Things I learned at OSH

1. Tenting east of the dry line can be a struggle - My mangina bothered me all week.
2. Wisconsin 3:00 AM thunderstorms last a long time and are spectacular
3. My engine needs hold down plates at the cylinder flanges.
4. OSH is overwhelming for a noobee
5. Shlepping 60 lbs of gear to a campsite requires more than I got in me. Someone needs to invent a golf cart that fits into a T-18.
6. Maura Hightower occasionally picks up X-fighter pilots and construction werkers in her golf cart.
7. Warbird pin-up calender girl frisky fighter pilot groupies are dying to ride anything that starts with an "F".........except me.
8. Howard Ginn=Burt=Winglets
9. When told to land on the orange dot, land on the pink dot as there is no orange dot.
10. Chuck Kincer does not fit the mold.

Despite my mal-adjustment to the climatic circumstances, I had a blast. The best part was the comraderie of the T-18 group. It was great to see seasoned faces and new faces as well. I'll let Wing Commander Walton fill in the details.

Made it back to B.C. 10.5 hours small head wind.
It was great to put a face to the people I see on the forum.

Chuck: maybe I will see your thorp next year, and all the
other great people I was able to meet.

Many congrats to Bob Highley for a well deserved reward and to Lee Walton for his efforts and subsequent publicity for the T-18.

Dick - both were way out of their teens - Best I could tell, I think they were both 44 Deltas. I'll shut up now.

Bill,

Yes indeed, we'll try flying again (no more driving)next year. I felt really bad about not being able to fly in until "Cubes" said this was his seventh attempt. I guess misery really does love company.

After several years of being on the forum, I too found it very enjoyable to put names with faces. And I must say, what an absolutely great group of Thorp drivers! for me the camaraderie is half the fun.

Congrats Bob and Lee.

Signed- Digger O'Dell (Chuck Kincer)
((thanks Bob Highley))

Frase,

#10-The mold cracks every mile further from home and at 1300 miles the mold was shattered! You'd never recognize me now, clean shave, suit and tie, shined shoes......Wow, who's that guy in the mirror!
