Did you guys decide where the spring fly-in will be? My new terminal is done. If you want to see it...

Frederisckburg would be a great place for a spring gathering - I'm in - a bottle of rum might even get Darcy there as well.

We discussed a few options at KY Dam. I've been waiting to open the discussion until I got the new forum up and running, primarily because the new software supports "polls" which would allow us to vote on the location. That being said I think we're pretty much set on Fredericksburg in the spring. We need to figure out the dates and those type of details but we have time for that. Fredericksburg is west of Austin and is very popular with aircraft type gatherings, it really is set up perfectly for such events. I'll post some more info in the not to distant future (on the new forum).

S36 to T82 is only 1482nm great circle route and it just touches the NE side of the 30nm mode C veil around Salt Lake City. That would be just under 10 hours of flying time not counting refueling stops. A nice little week end jaunt.

With the prevailing winds today (and the weather otherwise looks pretty clear), you could do it in 8 hours.

Bruce - despite it being a ways away, I plan on departing and arriving there on Thursday - if you can convince the retirement contingency of the NW to depart a little earlier, you could fly here Wednesday, flop at chez moi, and depart SLC ensemble on Thursday - jussathot to consider.

BTW, I checked rates at the on-field "Hangar Hotel" - a little "Rich" for my blud - some reasonable accomos in town just a short stagger up the road.

Frase and others .. Fear not I will arrange lodging in town. The hangar hotel is a novel idea but youre right, way too $$$ and we really want to be in town anyhow. That's where the beer, food and music is!

Stay tuned ...

Why not Kerville (ERV)? About 25 NM SW of T82. Better airport, better town and not as 'touristy' as Frederisckburg.

Frase,
Depending on the date I might just be a part of the NW retirement contingency. Making a stop at your humble establishment had crossed my mind. Will see how every thing shakes out once the date is set.

Fredricksburg is an old German town. The Pacific War Museum is located there. I'm in for Fredricksburg.
